Guglielmo Marconi e il Museo Marconi
Guglielmo Marconi
Guglielmo Marconi is the scientist who invented and developed technology and for this reason he is one of the best known and most admired characters across the border. His fame comes from his invention of "wireless communication". Already at the age of 21, in 1895 he achieved his first results in wireless communication. In a few years he became the reference point for research on radio waves and their application. Marconi in December 1901 crossed 3000 km of the Atlantic Ocean; this discovery was his best achievement which was followed by the nickname "great innovator". Even today, in the age of digital and globalization, many of the technologies (cellular, satellite, radio and television) that characterize our society and our daily activities are based on wireless connections, of which Marconi was a far-sighted pioneer. Thanks to the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation it is possible to take a dip in the past, in fact through guided tours, the visitor has the opportunity to retrace the events that characterized the formation and life of Guglielmo Marconi with particular attention to the period from 1895 to 1901.
The Marconi Museum
The Marconi Museum, dedicated to the birth and development of radio communications, is located in Villa Griffone, the residence of Gugliemo Marconi's family in which the young inventor carried out his first experiments. The museum houses a series of working reconstructions of scientific equipment from the 19th century located in various “exhibition islands” dedicated to some fundamental stages in the history of electricity. Along the way, some fundamental developments in radio communications in the twentieth century are also illustrated, in particular the transition from radio telegraphy to radio and broadcasting.

Itinerario "Sulle Onde di Marconi"
Sulle "Onde di Marconi"
“The madman of Pontecchio”, as the inhabitants of the area called him, then became the symbol of Sasso Marconi thanks to the fame and scientific successes he obtained and which led him to reach the Nobel Prize in 1909.
During this itinerary, the most important and characteristic places of Marconi's life will be touched.
The name of Marconi is combined with the other local symbol, the Sasso di Glosina or sandstone cliff that dominates the confluence of the valleys of the Reno and Setta rivers.
Even the hamlet where Villa Griffone is located becomes Pontecchio Marconi to celebrate the discoveries of the brilliant scientist / entrepreneur who right here, in his laboratory set up in the attic of Villa Griffone, sensed and demonstrated the possibility of transmitting radio signals at a distance using electromagnetic waves and , therefore, without wires with the decisive experiment of 1895.
